Hey Room 8 sorry that I have not posted yet I have not had Wi-Fi for a bit and then I forgot to post on the blog. If you are reading this on Monday 20th July today is birthday so yea happy birthday to me :D My new school, ST Josephs is really good. when I arrived on the Monday after I left they welcomed me and were really nice so far. I am in room 17, St Josephs has 19 rooms but we only use 18 and we have around 35 people per class so it is a big school. I am looking ford to visiting St Bens again, playing dodge ball for room 8.

The Galapagos Islands
For our topic for this term we have been learning about the Galapagos Islands and adaption, we have written two essays these topics also, we have been watching the David Attenborough Galapagos islands videos. from this topic I have learnt a lot about the unique animals of the Galapagos, my favourite being the pink iguana. The pink iguana is the most rarest type of iguana living in the Galapagos islands, their colony was thought to be a victim in the Wolf Volcano explosion but we can not determine this seeing that it only happened a few hours ago.
I think that this topic has really improved my knowledge about the theory of Evolution and the same with natural selection.
all in all I really loved doing the Galapagos topic and will be looking ford to doing soething ike this again.

School responsibilities
Hi guys its Sam here today I am going to talk (well write about) my school duties and responsibilities. my job to do for the school is to be a first-aid monitor, this means that you are on duty at morning tea and lunch in the first aid room. To be a first-aid monitor you will have to be trained and know how to preform basic first-aid things. my day to be on is Fridays and I am on first-aid with James Tuck. To get into one of these jobs you will have to volunteer and hand in letters to the job leaders, they will select a few people for the job and that is that. I volunteered for Tech support, first aid, librarian and road patrol. I got in for first aid and road patrol. the other job I do for the school is road patrol, to do this you must be trained for one or two days then briefed on safety, after that you are picked to become a reserve or a patroller. I was picked for a reserve.
All in all I love doing my jobs at St bens and I hope you do too!

Mission Fair (last one)
On Friday we had the mission fair again same as last time we were doing pizza.
We dedicated our stall to JK who left for Auckland later that year, so we named the stall JKs pizza
in memory of Joseph.
As well as selling pizza we were selling drinks; Fanta and Coke Zero (we were not allowed to sell Pepsi max.) Unlike last time we were based outside and did not have a pizza warmer, this was no problem seeing as we sold our of pizza in 10 MINS, the pizza came late this year so there was suspense building up to 11.45am when the pizza should arrive.
For the first thirty mins we were just waiting around occasionally getting a one or two people who wanted a cheap drink or to reserve a pizza.
all in all the Mission fair was a great success seeing as we sold everything (even our drinks) the school raised a total of $2350 for cyclone pam in Vanuatu.

Reflection - Zimbabwe
This week and last week we have been asked to do a poster and a powerpoint on a country that you are given and to write about the cricket world cup, we got Zimbabwe.
Fraser and I have been working on a poster this week and a powerpoint last week we finished the powerpoint and moved on to the poster. our design was going to be cricket posts and ball but we changed it to the balancing rocks in the desert of Zimbabwe (a bunch of leaning rocks balancing on each other using gravity) we finished the poster on Tuesday this week I think we did a really good job but next time i will make the poster bigger and same as the text.
I think we both learned lots about the cricket in Zimbabwe and how they can not play cricket there because of civil conflict.
all in all I have really enjoyed this topic and am looking forward to the next powerpoint-poster thing we will do

Paintball
Hey guys its Sam and today I will be talking to you about paintball. I was asked to choose a sport to do as a long-term sport not like soccer or rugby, so I chose Paintball. some people would be scared to play this sport but really all then people are really nice and the paintballs only give you a few bruises and don't hurt that much, like a bee sting that lasts for a minute, really its not that bad. My home field is at thunder ball off the motorway by Porurua in wellington, come join us! to join a paintball team you have to have a Mask or helmet a gun a vest, hopper or mags a gun cover or sock, paintballs (of course) and a vest with clothes. I play in the woods and forests with an addition of dday maps (a map where you have one team defending a building or bunker and they can not come out for 5 mins, and another team sprinting and sliding up a path from the sea to try and capture the base. it is usually a massacre for the running team.) Some of the tactical gear you can get are: Flash bangs, a grenade that blinds you for a matter of seconds also creates a huge noise (usually illegal in NZ but you still can find games that use them,) Paint grenades, a grenade that blows up when triggered or on a timer to be thrown. Claymore Mines, a movement triggered paint grenade pointed in a certain direction to blow up. Mortars a huge paintball launcher that is pointed in a direction and fired from a standing position. All in all I think that paintball is the best sport that there is.
hope to see you there

BACK IN BUSINESS!
Welcome back to my BLOG I am Sam and this is my year eight blog year seven is down in 2014 but we are in 2015 so lets get on with it. These First few weeks have gone really well, getting to know the class and having most of my friends in my class too, so that's a good start so far. Also we get to make some amazing artwork like Lego self portrait things (they look amazing) we also get to do lots of sports which in my opinion is really good. Oh and i have not mentioned the best thing we get to go on THE YEAR EIGHT CAMP! OPC! (Outdoor Pursuit Center,) we have waiting all year seven year for this and now we can do it! the task system this year is really good because it is really easy sometimes and really hard other tasks i find that good so you cant do them all in one day so it drags it out all week, so you have something to do every day. all in all I think that this years tasks are going really well and i am really looking ford to all the perks of year eight, we can achieve the excellence badge and can become part of the Catholic character team also you can go to YEAR EIGHT CAMP!
Good luck to all the year eights this year
